Pura Environmental Benefits

The impact of the bottled water industry is simply staggering and represents the worst in overt and unnecessary consumption, all in the name of convenience and misunderstanding of the issues involved for our and all future generations.

Facts that cause clear concern for our future:

  • 38 billion water bottles end up in landfills every year. If you make one straight line out of them, it will be enough to circle the globe 150 times … EVERY YEAR!
  • Disposable plastic water bottles take up to 1000 years to decompose.
  • It takes 3 to 5 bottles of water to produce each bottle of water.
  • It takes ¼ bottle of oil to produce each bottle of water.
  • 714 million gallons (17 million barrels) of oil are used annually to manufacture disposable plastic water bottles.
  • The oil used to make disposable water bottles could be used to fuel 1 million cars within 12 months.
  • Interestingly, approximately 25% of bottled water is actually tap water that has been purified (reverse osmosis, deionization, etc.) in disposable plastic packaging.
  • In the US alone, 2.5 million tons of CO2 were produced in 2006 from the production of 30 billion liters of bottled water. And every year this figure is constantly growing.

Needless to say, the bottled water industry is impacting our environment in the most dangerous ways imaginable. From the wasteful use of natural resources to the inorganic debris in the world’s oceans and the pollution of the air we breathe. And isn’t it ironic that most of the water in disposable bottles is just water from our kitchen faucets?

Fortunately, it is surprisingly easy and even profitable to treat the resources of our planet with care. Carry and use a Pura Stainless bottle and you won’t have to buy water in disposable plastic bottles all the time.

Your planet will thank you… and so will your grandkids!
